Since your initial DocumentRoot is at /var/www/html, you should check if it is in an executable attrib. Normally, you can access your default website without a problem if you didn't make any revision on your configuration file.
Just check your /var/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file with DocumentRoot, and conform the chmod on such directory.
