档案取回後依照以下的步骤安装:
步骤一:
在你欲存放 Netscape 的目录下解开档案:
tar -zxpvf netscape-v20-export.i486-unknown-linux.tar.gz
解开之後会在目前的目录下产生以下的档案及目录:

并且於 Home directory 中产生 /.netscape 的目录,
步骤二:
详细阅读 README 中的安装说明後,直接执行 Netscape (於 X-window 中),随後会出现一个视窗,询问你是否要将 Cache 及一些设定档安装於$HOME/.netscape 中,选确定,此时你已经成功的安装了 Netscape ,你可以利用 netscape 到处看看,是否正确执行无误.....,但是当你接上中文的Web site时,你会发现怎麽中文的显示有些异常,看到的是一堆乱码...
步骤三:
不要慌,你必须调整一些选项才能正确的显示中文:
1.选择 Options -> Language Encoding -> Chinese(Big5)
硬碟嘎嘎响了几声之後,应该可以显示出中文字来了
2.你可以在 Options -> General Preference ... -> Fonts
中选择你想要的字形,在 For the Encoding 选择 Taiwanese(x-x-big5),
更改字体及其大小....
3.大功告成了....
步骤四:
如果你照上面的安装方式还是无法看见中文,那可能是你并未设定好中文字型让netscape使用. 设定的方法如下:

安装设定中文字型让netscape使用说明:
1)先去ftp站抓中文字形放到/usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/chinese里

这个是自己造的目录呀!
假设你抓回来了这 7 种字型档.

(这程式会造出一个叫fonts.dir的档,里面记录你这个目录里有的字型,就是/usr/X11/lib/fonts/chinese/目录里有那些字型会记录在fonts.dir里呀)
